The compound determines strength and durability. Vinyl column pipes use 92% PVC polymer with 3% reinforcing agents and 3% titanium. They are produced with biaxially oriented extrusion and carbide-coated screw tooling, which Vinyl states gives 5X higher durability than conventional options.
Depth rating is the most important number for a column pipe, because the pipe and joints carry the weight of the pump plus the water column. Vinyl column pipes are designed for safe installation at depths of up to 1400 ft. Always compare the rated depth with the depth at which your pump will be set.
